Lesson 2: The Plan of Salvation

The Plan of Salvation:

Tuesday we discussed the plan of salvation. A diagram was drawn on the board as a helpmate for the students. Students were asked to pair up and discuss how they would present (in their own words) what the plan of salvation is to the class. After several minutes groups were called on at random and asked to present what they had learned.

Each group managed to focus on a different, albeit, important parts of the plan. Some focused on our pre-mortal life, while other on the Atonement, and others still on the spirit world.
At the end of the class several questions were asked. Some were serious while others a little more playful. What I thought was most significant is the lack of understanding regarding the Savior’s role in the plan.

If you are reading this as a parent, I would like to encourage you to bare you testimony of the Savior to your child to help them understand more clearly who the Savior is. If you are a student and are reading this, please make it a priority to look for examples of the Savior’s love for you as we study the scriptures this year. Highlight verses that depict His coming, or speak of his purpose. Make notes in the margins of your scriptures or write about inspirations that come to you in your study journals as you read.

Developing your own testimony is the keystone to salvation. We cannot get to heaven simply because our parents, friends and peers believe the gospel is true. We won’t be able to stand before the judgement seat of the Lord and say, “Well, my mom knows the church is true, so that should be good enough.” We must know for ourselves and be able to confess this knowledge as it comes.

I am grateful for this calling and the opportunity to share my testimony with you on a daily basis. I know without a doubt the Church is true. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. We have a living prophet on the earth to lead and guide us. I know Jesus is the Christ. He lived, he Atoned and died for us. He is resurrected and lives even now. I am a child of God, as are you. We are of great value and worth and have divine attributes of our Father in Heaven within us. I know we can live with Him again someday.

In the Name of Jesus Christ ~ Amen.
