Lesson 8: Moses 2 (Genesis 1; Abraham 4)

A Student Lead Class

What a wonderful day. We had two of our students lead the class and teach the lesson as outlined in the teacher’s manual. Our class president Christine and VP Kalo disused the creation as found in Moses, Genesis and Abraham. They did an excellent job.

In addition to reviewing the creation, we learned more about our identities as sons and daughters of our Father in Heaven. We learned gender is essential to our beings and that God does not make mistakes.

Each time we take a look at ourselves in a mirror, we catch a glimpse of our Heavenly Father. As his children we possess divine similarities. Just as we resemble our earthly families; we also resemble our pre-mortal families.

A common theme this week has been identifying who we are. Understanding our role and responsibilities as well as the eternal truths or principles associated with them.

We are children of God. We can overcome all temptations of the world. We have a purpose. Our purpose if to fulfill God’s purpose. His purpose is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. We do this by developing a testimony of the gospel and then sharing it with others.

The seminary objective is to help youth and young adults understand and rely on the teachings and Atonement of Jesus Christ, qualify for the blessings of the temple, and prepare themselves, their families, and others for eternal life with their Father in Heaven.

I know my redeemer lives. I know we have a living prophet on the earth. God is real. I am, as are you his child. We have a purpose on this earth. We can overcome all things through the Lord. The gospel is true. The Book of Mormon is of divine origin and is another testament of Jesus Christ. Immortality and eternal life is available to everyone who seeks it out in earnest. These things I know in Jesus name ~ Amen.
