Lesson 7: Moses 1: 24-42

Lesson 7: Moses 1: 24-42

Today we had a visit from our Seminary & Institute advisor, Brother Slocombe. Brother Slocombe is an advisor and instructor for the seminary and institute programs. As a seminary teacher, I receive all of my seminary training from him (as well as the tools and resources provided).

His purpose for coming to class is not to critique my teaching, but rather to get to know the seminary students who will at some point be attending institute classes. He is also there to help with any questions the students might have about seminary and their progression.

Class began with a devotional led by our class president as usual. However, there was a big difference in how the class sang the hymnal today. That might had something to do with the fact we had a pianist accompany us. I am tell you it makes all the difference.

As we began our class discussion, we reviewed yesterday’s lesson. I was impressed by how many of the students retained what we learned.

Today we went over the importance of resisting temptation and the blessings that come from doing so. Moses resisted Satan and was blessed with the ability to converse with the Lord face-to-face. He was also blessed with a newfound knowledge of the creations and God’s purpose.

We spent a lot of time going over God’s purpose with the class. Moses 1:39 is a scripture mastery verse. There we can see what God’s purpose. Like in all things, with great knowledge comes great responsibility and knowing God’s purpose means we must help fulfill it.

Tomorrow Christine and Kalo will lead the class as our Class President and Vice President. Together they will review and discuss lesson 8. It should be pretty exciting.
